Every spring my Dad goes hunting for these weird little guys. Around here they are usually called dry land fish for whatever reason. They look kind of like a sponge but taste great!
Ingredients:
Morels, soaked and rinsed, split in half lengthwise
1 cup flour
2 tbsp cornmeal
1 egg
splash of milk
salt and pepper
veg oil
Directions:
Heat about 1/2 cup oil in large skillet. Whisk together egg and milk. In shallow dish, combine flour, cornmeal, salt, and pepper. Dip each morel in egg/milk then dredge in flour mixture. Add to oil. Dont overcrowd the pan. Let them fry until they are golden brown on each side, about 8-10 mins. Drain on paper towels and season with salt and pepper.
Before I fried them…Told ya they look weird!
Here they are after they were fried!! Makes my mouth water!!!
