Bacon Caramels

Im not gonna lie, I was kinda weirded out when I first saw that these really had bacon in them. They are delicious though. The sweet/salty combo of this will definately cure your sweet tooth! I found these on Molly Jeans blog, The Rookie Chef!


1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 cup corn syrup

1/2 cup butter

1 cup heavy cream, divided

1/4 cup pure maple syrup

8 slices bacon, fried until crisp, crumbled


Fry bacon until crispy. Crumble and set aside. Combine all ingredients except for the bacon and 1/2 cup of the heavy cream in med. saucepan over med-high heat. Stir occasionally until temperature reaches 240. Remove saucepan from heat, and stir in remaining heavy cream. Place back on heat, and cook until mixture reaches 245 degrees. Remove from heat and stir in half of the bacon. Pour caramel into buttered 9/13 pan. Top with remaining bacon crumbles and let caramels cool for 3 hours.
